Summary
Statue height : 267.8cm
It is a wooden, Yoseki-zukuri (joined wood-block) statue. Originally it was lacquered and gold-foiled.
Nikkei (hair topknot)and Hakugo is made of crystal, Rahatu(Spiral shaped curly hair)attached and with one straight hair line.
It has Nou-e (garment) on the left shoulder and slightly covered the other one.
The both hands express Jo-in (a mudra or hand gesture), and both legs are folded with Kekka-fuza (meditation posture).
The halo is wooden and double layer, Zukou (the inner halo) has hachiyou-renge (eight lotus petals)carving and the both rim have tamatukuri carving.
This Chuson-ji area has three large Buddhist seated statues, and it is the most well-balanced, exquisite work with gentle expression. It has no obscurity or rusticity in spite of the rural location. It can be separated into two pieces at the knee part.
