The sword is simple, wide, almost straight, and slightly curved.
The tang is Shoubu, the grip is Rikko (standing drum shape), style, the tip of tang is square shape and has a hole for hanging.
This tang meant a handle itself. The edge of the hole has a decorative bronze rim.
The whole body rusted, and has kuikomi, partially missing.
A part of the sword body was sharpened, and shows particular phase.
The forging technique is fine and smooth.
The pattern of the sword body is unclear.
It is the work of middle Heian period. The standing drum shaped grip was once wrapped around with wisteria vine or cloth.
It is a very precious example, to know the simple style and decorative technique of sword.
It is said to be owned by Abe Sadato, legend hero of Emishi.
