Summary
Seated height : 57.1cm
It is a wooden, Yoseki-zukuri (joined wood-block) sculpture. Originally it was lacquered and gold-foiled but it came off later and now plain looking. Rakei (Spiral shaped curly hair) and Tenkan-dai (a decorative band around the head) are both carved with a fine incision. Chogan technique (Eyes carved directly into the surface of a wooden sculpture) is very distinguished. It posed with Chiken-no-in (knowledge-fist mudra or hand gesture), with wearing Jouhaku (a decorative scarf) and Mo (a skirt-like garment covering the lower part)
It is the most dignified statue in this mountainous area in Chuson-ji, which has harmonious, noble facial expression and tender body line, with graceful and sensitive expression of garments.
It doesn’t contain pedestral and Halo.
