Summary

( Mishoutai = Kake-Botoke ):
A hanging medallion of  Buddha, or Buddhist deity

Bankei(plate diameter) 35.9cm,
Bankou(thickness of the plate) 0.15cm,
Height of the image 26.9cm
(include pedestal, not halo)

It is the gilt-bronze round plate which has the image of seated Shaka-Nyorai (Buddha) statue, with meditation posture, both legs are folded such that the tops of the feet firmly rest on the thigh of the opposite legs. It has also the posture of both hands held at chest-level, with the left palm turned inwards and the right palm turned outwards on a lotus base.
This plate has casting with gilt-bronze work for the image of the Buddha, lotus base, halo and a rim. It seems to have silver gilt on the plate itself.
It was made of a few layers of part. Halo has zukou(head light) and shinkou(body light)parts, and the both were devided into inner circle, outer circle and fire frame, and studded with the plate base. The main body and the lotus base are one plated and embossed, and are studded together.
The body was lightly embossed with finely engraved lines, but the garment has strong and clear carved lines. The lotus petals are also embossed and the rim of petals has leaf pattern and fishroe motif spread over the base.
