This box case with four legs is rectangular shape, with cypress wood, and decorated with wood carving and lacquer. The interior is divided into upper, middle and lower compartments, with double doors that open in one direction only.
All around edge is black lacquer. The front panel is divided into three part as if they are 3 pictures, and painted a camellia japonica on each panels with wave-washed beach behind the scene.
It is evenly colored with Chinese vermilion all over the surface, and gold-foiled in main prats.
The both carving and coloring techniques are quite simple, but it gives full and rich atmosphere in some ways.
It is a work of Muromachi period, and very rare to have such sguare box shape.
