Votive tablets for Pilgrimage

Summary

3 Incised letters on gilt-bronze plate,
4 wooden black lacquered with gold rim

Bronze plates are two types, one is pentagonal shape with the top pointed, and the others are square shape.
Wooden ones are vertically long with the top pointed.
These 8 tablets out of nine are with inscription as follows.

It is a votive tablet for the expiration of term of a vow for West 33 places pilgrimage, Dougyo in Nagai county (Nagai city, Yamagata prefecture)

It is a votive tablet for commemoration of pilgrimage for Konjiki-do, by Higuchi Ietsugu in Edo.

(in 1631)
It is a gold plated votive tablet, offered by Higuchi Ietsugu, when he came around Konjiki-do second time, for presentation of a sutra, after three years of the previous visit.

It is a votive tablet for commemoration of fulfillment of a vow, when Taira no Kiyoyasu, a lord of San-no-seki, Ichinoseki, pilgrimaged West 33 places.

It is a votive tablet for commemoration of fulfillment of a vow, when Taira no Kiyoyasu pilgrimaged Bando 33 holy grounds.

(in 1516)
It is a votive tablet for commemoration of fulfillment of a vow, when Karakuwa Hisanobu, a liege of Kasai lord in Miyagi, pilgrimaged together with three other colleagues.

(in 1525)
It is a votive tablet for 33 holy grounds pilgrimage, when Yokosawa Matajiro ,who lived Kasai in Miyagi, pilgrimaged with his 4 other people.

The upper part of the tablet has engraved Kannon image, and upper part has the family crest of Mitsu-gashiwa.
It is a votive tablet for the pilgrimage of 100 Kannon Statues offered by Yokozawa Heikeiji in Kasai.

The last one without inscription is a votive tablet for pilgrimage offered by Myoshin-Zen-Ni (a Buddhist nun).
These are very precious relics in order to know the religious customs through medieval times to early modern times.
