Overview

Opened in October 1975, in commemoration of the hundred years of the prefecture system, this building has received high acclaim as a comprehensive museum of nation-wide scale, content and surrounding environment. We display materials such as geology, archeology, history, folklore, organisms from the geological age to the present, and can understand the nature and culture of Iwate Prefecture.
