Koiwai Farm (Shizukuishi-cho)
Koiwai Farm is famous as the only privately owned comprehensive farm in Japan, boasting a hundred years of history since its establishment in 1894. The green ground that spreads over the beautiful Iwate foothills has an area of approximately 3000 ha. We are engaged in dairy farming, greening and landscaping, forestry industry, tourism, etc. The Koiwai milking plant on the farm produces excellent dairy products.
In the pastoral atmosphere, the toro carriages for sightseeing run unhurriedly through the cattle grazing land and the red pine forest. How about a cow milk squeeze experience after “Takaba no Tenmonkan” where you can observe sunspots and constellations.
You can also enjoy contact with sheep and horse riding. In milk factory, we observe the production process of milk and butter. There is also an SL hotel using the Blue Train, and an exhibition spot sales office for wood products from the prefecture "Acorn Corolla".
Shinzan Kogen (Shinami Town)
The Shinzan plateau (550 meters above sea level) is a gentle hilly area that spreads to the foot of the Owa Mountains.
There are a town-owned amusement park, an observation deck and cattle grazing land. From the top of the mountain you can see the Kitakami Plain, Sannoumi Dam, as far as Morioka city and Mount Hayaike. There is also a golf course nearby.
Hiraiwa Kogen (Kushimaki Town)
The Hiraiwa Kogen forms the center of the "Kuji Hiraiwa Prefectural Nature Park", and spreads widely on the middle of the calm mountain Hiraiwa-dake (altitude 1060 meters). The characteristic of the Hiraiwa plateau is the beauty of the birch forest.
There are about 300,000 birch forests that are said to be the largest in Japan. If you walk slowly in this forest, you will leave the real world and you will likely forget the time and cause an illusion. That is a broad birch forest.
Every year around June, red flowering azaleas bloom, and the rare phenomenon that a beach plant, Hamanasu, grows even around 1000 meters above sea level. The green of the meadow, the red of the red azalea, and the white of the birch, the contrast that this color weaves can be said to be the greatest attraction of the Hiraiwa plateau.
Outside mountain plateau (Morioka city)
Outside mountain plateau which spreads northeast of Morioka city. There is a vast area of 90 hectares of Morioka City Toyama Forest Park. The Hayasaka Kogen, which spreads around the boundary between Iwaizumi-cho and Morioka City, and the whole area of Hayasaka, is designated as a prefectural natural park.
It was once considered the most difficult place to go from Iwaizumi-cho to castle town Morioka. The world of Ihatov that the poet Kenji Miyazawa loved, the beech and mizunara virgin forests and sparkling meadows. Looking at the southern cows eating grass, Iwate folk song "Southern beef memorial" seems to be heard.
Appi plateau (Hachimantai city)
Appi Plateau, famous for winter sports. Appi means "place of peace" in Ainu language.
The vast mountain foot between Maemoriyama at 1305m and Nishimoriyama at 1328m spreads the beech and the forest on the top of the mountain, and in spring it is seen flowers of lavender and iris. In addition to skiing, it is a highland resort full of mountain climbing, tennis, horse riding and golf all year round.
Tashirohira Kogen (Hachimantai City)
Between the 7 o'clock rainy mountain (1,060 m above sea level) and Mt. Tashiro (945 m) where you can enjoy the large panorama of Hachimantai, a large prairie spreads on the Tashirodaira Plateau, and it is grazed on pasture and you can enjoy a long sight of cattle.
Summer, the motor sound that resonates on the plateau. The “Ihatobe Trial” held every August is a summer festival for riders who travel from Tashiro Pei Plateau to Fushiro Village on Rikuchuka coast in two days.
Taneyama plateau (Oshu city)
First of all, please experience the beauty of the constellation on a sunny night at about 900 m above the mountain plateau. The area is an outdoor space where you can expect the flow of the Iwate Mountains and the Kitakami River.
It is also known as the plateau that Kenji Miyazawa loved, and in the spring you can enjoy the idyllic scenery of the herds of tangles and grazing cattle and horses. You can also go hiking in the vicinity of the campsite with its log house and car site where you can have an auto camp, a restaurant, a bath with sauna and a shop.
Kuishi Kogen (Miyako City)
The plateau of 700m above which spreads to the foot of Mt. Akmeikami (1,005m above sea level) is natural forest 94% of the total area. Taking advantage of the climate, plateau vegetables such as radish and lettuce are grown. The plateau is attractive for hiking trails and family-friendly recreation, with its attractive birch forest and flowers such as dandelions and lily of the valley.
Every year on the first Sunday of August, the "Red Beko Carnival" is held at the highland. There are various events such as special product direct sale, local performing arts, Iwana and Yamame no Tsumari Midori, but of course the main is red beko beef, which is known for its pride.
Forist Park (Karumeicho)
A romance full of light nature town where the pastoral scenery spreads. It is Yukitanigawa Dam Forest Park Karume that facilities that can be enjoyed by the family are substantial.
The 20ha large forest park on the shores of the Yukitanigawa Dam includes campsites, cabins, acorn forests, wild bird forests, etc. It is said to be water and green forests. Please enjoy the magnificent view below from the observation deck of the windmill. It is a place to visit by all means in spring when 50,000 tulips bloom.
Exhibition place (Kitakami city)
Kitakami city park "exhibition ground" is place of relaxation of citizen. There are 100,000 azaleas in the large-scale park, and a row of cherry blossom trees, which continues for 2 km from the foot of Kashiwabashi along the Kitakami River, has been selected as one of the "100 best spots for cherry blossom viewing."
Every year from April 18th to 30th, the "Kitakami Exhibition Victory Sakura Festival" is held, and about 10,000 cherry blossoms are in full bloom. The great cycling road "Exhibition ground, Hanamaki Bicycle Road" is 29 km long. In the cove, the southern dredger Hirata-sen has been restored, and there is also a rest house that mimics the rice storage of the southern cape.
Tono Basin (Tono City)
The Tono city, located at the foot of Mt. Hayaikemine, the main peak of the Kitakami Mountains, is a basin city located approximately in the center of the Kitakami Mountains. Once, it is said that it was popular as an important trading place where the products of the sea from the coast and the products of rice and mountains from the surrounding villages were transported.
A large number of monuments and stone pavers, which were considered to be signs of travel, also remain, and a water wheel that reflects the life of the time and a southern bent house with a thatched roof are also carefully preserved. In addition, many folklore stories are told to be sorry, and it has been passed down as a traditional culture.
