Overview
One of the five highways developed in the Edo period. It is also called Oshu Kaido. It was maintained as a main road linking Edo to Rikukugai to the beach, and human horses were passed. In Ichinohe-cho and Iwate-cho area, the highway trace which keeps the figure of the past, Ichitozuka etc remain well, and it is valuable to know the traffic of the modern times.
