Overview
Kaya is a tropical plant along with the same family of caraboku, and is a plant that has been planted to grow naturally in the mountains and to use garden trees or seeds for food.
Kotasaki-no-Okaya is located in Kodorizaki, close to the Kitakami River, about 3 km northeast of the Kitakami city area.
It is estimated to be about 560 years old with a root circumference of 6 m, an eye diameter of 5.6 m, and a height of about 20 m, and is representative of Kaya's giant trees in the prefecture.
