"Kezanzaka" was created when the style of worshipping songs of Kagura (traditional performing art) and Kyogen (traditional comic theater) has changed during the Kamakura period, a period when mountain worshipping was a routine. It is said that "Nanyadoyara" was created when servants from the Kai Province mingled with local residents despite speaking different languages during the Nanboku-cho period when Mr. Nanbu had strong influence over the land. The folk song, "Karamebushi" was sang by miners at gold mines of Morioka Domain. These folk songs have been passed down through many generations and are filled with the historical, natural, industrial and cultural values of Iwate.
